NEW YEAR’S EVE 2006 AND MAYBE THE DAY AFTER There is no reason to sit home on New Year’s Eve this year - unless of course you want to... We have been asked by our readers to provide some ideas for partying on the last day of 2005. There are lots of places to go and listen and dance to music or have a kind of laid back evening in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. Of course there are too many to list in this short newsletter so here are just a few suggestions. Who doesn’t know funny man Howie Mandel? Howie will be performing at the Broward Center for the Performing Art’s Au-Rene Theater (201 SW 5th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale – 954-462-0222). Country Western fans…The Round Up in Davie (9020 West State Road 84, Davie, 954-423-1990) will be featuring country singer Jamey Johnson just about when the clock strikes twelve. Traveling a bit more south in Broward County to the famous Seminole Hard Rock and Seminole Paradise there is talk that there will be thousands of South Floridians bringing in 2006. The energy will be electrifying with noisemakers and several bands that will be jamming from 7 pm until long into the daylight hours. As the midnight hour approaches there will be a fireworks display in addition to cannons that will shoot confetti. Dom Irrera (famous for his many roles in television comedy shows) will make you laugh at the Seminole Paradise Improv (5700 Seminole Way, Hollywood- 954-981-5653). The Blue Martini wishes everyone a Happy Blue Year! Located in the Galleria Mall at 2432 E. Sunrise Blvd. they will be featuring a live performance by Synchronicity. For more information call 954-653-BLUE. Let’s travel to Palm Beach County…. What about clowns? Ever think about being a kid again and going to the circus? Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus has been entertaining children and adults for more than 100 years. The Greatest Show on Earth will be returning to West Palm Beach at the South Florida Fairgrounds (9067 Southern Blvd.). 561-966-3309 on the first day of 2006. Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real in Boca Raton) will be host to the B-52’s. They have sold more than 20 million records in their two-decade career. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster at 561-966-3309. Famous singers Dave Mason and Leon Russell will be performing at the Palm Beach County Convention Center Ballroom at 650 Okeechobee Blvd. For more information and tickets call 800-833-5733. Now to Miami-Dade.. The Mansion (1235 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach 305-532-4605) will feature The Bravery along with DJAM. General admission entitles you to a 9 p.m. until midnight open bar. At Bayfront Park (301 N. Biscayne Blvd, Miami) there will be performances by disco queens France Joli and Rose Royce along with Betty Padgett and Elements of Funk Band. At midnight there will be a huge fireworks display over beautiful Biscayne Bay. Crobar, (1445 Washington Avenue in the heart of South Beach) is another very popular club and a real party place. There will be lots going on there to bring in 2006. For information call 305-531-5027. The Prive/Opium Garden is one of Miami’s most celebrated. Located at 136 Collins Avenue, they will be hosting a 2006 extravaganza with Lindsay Lohan and others.
